Dawn R. Rosemond is a partner in the Fort Wayne, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP where she serves as an administrator of the Litigation Department. She is also a member of the firm's Financial Insolvency and Restructuring and Intellectual Property Departments, as well as serves on the firm's Pro Bono Committee and co-chair of the Asset Revitalization Practice Group. Ms. Rosemond is an Indiana Torchbearer Award recipient, has been named as one of the most influential African-Americans in Northeast Indiana by INK Magazine®, has been listed in Indiana Super Lawyers®, and has been named as one of the "Top Attorneys - Business Litigation (Indiana)" in the Corporate Counsel Edition of Super Lawyers®.
Ms. Rosemond has been with Barnes & Thornburg throughout her entire legal career, and represents business clients at virtually all stages of the litigation process, including pre-litigation counseling, ADR (mediation, arbitration, etc.), trial and appeal. She has litigated before various tribunals including federal and state courts and administrative agencies, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal Circuit.
Ms. Rosemond litigates a wide array of cases. She began her litigation career with a focus on federal and state employment litigation concerning discriminatory practices and retaliation claims including, but not limited to, Title VII, race, sex, color, religious discrimination claims, disability discrimination claims under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), age discrimination claims under the ADEA, claims alleging violation of the Indiana Worker's Compensation Act, and helped to secure dismissal or summary judgment in numerous cases for clients faced with such allegations. While Ms. Rosemond still counsels and otherwise serves clients in this regard, her practice now focuses on representing, counseling and protecting her clients (from entrepreneurs to Fortune 500 entities), in business and commercial litigation matters, inclusive of, but not limited to, vendor disputes, breach of warranty and guaranty claims, personal injury, wrongful death, unfair competition matters and multi-million dollar breach of contract actions. She also has broad experience litigating work-out matters for banking institutions and special servicers, and regularly defends her business clients in matters involving the protection of their brand and intellectual property (including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade dress). Ms. Rosemond also manages an extensive portfolio of worker's compensation defense litigation throughout Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
Ms. Rosemond has represented clients in a wide variety of industries including automotive manufacturing, food service, healthcare, newspaper publishing, electronics and robotics, insurance, real estate, retail, HVAC, security technology, construction, banking, music and entertainment, beauty and hair care, HR and staffing.
Ms. Rosemond graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She was awarded her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law-Champaign in 1996. She is a member of the National, American and Allen County Bar Associations. She also currently serves on the boards of "Visit Fort Wayne" and the Downtown Development Trust.
Ms. Rosemond is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is active in the Fort Wayne community and her local church. She also regularly speaks and volunteers her time to mentor and champion young girls - especially African-American teens/pre-teens.
