Don Bell is a partner in the Toronto and Tokyo offices of Davis LLP, working in the Corporate/Commercial Practice Group. Mr. Bell joined Davis in 1993.
Mr. Bell advises on a broad range of business law matters including:
· Corporate structuring and reorganization
· Business mergers, acquisitions and sales
· Commercial lending and private financing transactions
· Securitization and asset-based financing transactions
· Mining projects
· Pulp and paper manufacturing projects
· Limited partnerships and joint ventures
· General corporate counsel
A more detailed description of some of the recent transactions on which Mr. Bell has advised is available. In addition to advising on transactions, Mr. Bell provides ongoing general business law advice to a number of Canadian and Japanese corporations.
Before law school, Mr. Bell worked for several years for a Japanese electronics manufacturer and a business consulting company. His business experience is reflected in the very practical and client service-oriented business counsel he provides to clients and to the various committees within Davis on which he sits.
Mr. Bell is a member of Davis' Japan Practice Group and works extensively with Japanese businesses, and with Canadian businesses involved in commercial activity relating to Japan. He is based in Toronto, but works out of the firm's Tokyo office on a regular basis. He is also a member of the firm's executive committee and sits on various other committees within the firm.
Mr. Bell is admitted to the bars of British Columbia, Ontario, and New York, and he is chair of the Vancouver chapter of the New York State Bar Association International Law and Practice Section.
