Ed practices in the firm's Business section and has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions involving both public and private companies. Ed is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Business Planning at the University of Alabama School of Law. Chambers USA, the highly regarded legal directory that is based upon actual client interviews, named Ed in 2009 and 2010 as a "Leader in their Field." In addition, Ed is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions. Ed received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama in 2007. He also received his J.D., summa cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law in 1994 and his B.A., cum laude, in 1991 from Washington and Lee University. During law school, he was an Editor of the Alabama Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. Ed served as Law Clerk to The Honorable James H. Hancock, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama from August 1994 until August 1995.
