Fried Frank’s asset management practice serves the needs of the investment management industry by providing a full range of legal services to a diverse group of clients, including US and international asset management and private equity firms, broker-dealers, hedge funds and their managers (exempt or registered), family offices, high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.
Attorneys in the practice build on Fried Frank’s long and well-respected record as a transactional firm with a sophisticated regulatory and litigation practice and approach their work counseling and advising participants in the investment management industry from a practical business, as well as legal perspective. We make the achievement of our client’s business objective our priority and make ourselves and the resources of the Firm available at all times to accomplish this objective. We seek to assist the client in meeting its economic goals while providing the tools necessary for the client to make well-informed decisions suitable to its own risk tolerance and the marketplace.
The asset management practice includes the following focus areas:
Alternative investments: Advising clients in all aspects of the structuring, offering and ongoing operations of hedge funds, funds of hedge funds and related products, as well as in the structuring and negotiation of derivatives.
Private equity and related funds: Representing sponsors and managers of and investors in private equity funds and funds-of-funds, venture capital funds, distressed asset funds, leveraged buyout funds and real estate funds.
International funds, offerings and exchange listings: Assisting clients in organizing and offering investment funds and related products in a variety of non-US jurisdictions and in listing funds on international exchanges.
Investment advisers and broker-dealers: Counseling investment advisers and broker-dealers in the structuring and day-to-day operation of their businesses.
Examination, regulatory, enforcement and civil litigation assignments: Representing investment management, broker-dealer and other service provider clients in governmental and self-regulatory organization investigations, examinations and enforcement proceedings, as well as in civil litigations and arbitrations.
