Gary R. Maze has been practicing intellectual property law since 1995. Mr. Maze's practice includes helping companies and individuals with patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and related issues. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property and general commercial litigation and helps companies and individuals understand and plan for patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret issues. In addition, as a registered patent attorney Mr. Maze has drafted and prosecuted applications for mechanical, computer hardware, computer software, medical, and other inventions. His clients include both international and domestic corporations as well as universities and individuals and encompass business areas as diverse as oil field equipment and services; medical equipment and devices; book, music and move rights; and computer software, among others.
In addition to intellectual property matters, Mr. Maze has helped clients with general commercial matters and litigation, including employment law.
Mr. Maze is a published author on intellectual property issues and has presented formal and informal lectures on intellectual property law.
Mr. Maze has participated in trial cases in Federal District courts in Texas, California, Louisiana, Illinois, and Florida, and has been involved in appeals cases before the Fifth and Federal circuits. He has also tried cases in several Texas State district courts and argued cases before Texas State Appellate courts.
Prior to 1995 Mr. Maze held numerous positions in the computer and related industries, including product marketing and software engineering management positions at ICOT, Inc. and Datapoint Corp. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Maze co-founded Datanet International, Inc., an early local area networking company, and KPTools, Inc., a software developer specializing in law office practice software. Datanet International, Inc. later added a division that developed software and provided back office processing for credit unions.
