Practice/Industry Group Overview

GrayRobinson's General and Professional Liability Defense Litigation Practice stress client involvement and results-oriented, cost-effective litigation. We understand the best possible results will only be achieved when the defense attorney and the claims specialist work together. We strive to involve the claim specialist in the decision-making process and explain why we believe a particular course of action should be followed. We emphasize early and aggressive intervention to attempt to quickly resolve claims. We also appreciate the effectiveness and value of the mediation process.

Our practice also incorporates the latest technological advances to ensure our legal services are delivered in the most cost-effective, timely and convenient manner to the client. We have developed and utilize a computerized document control system to manage complex litigation. This technology enables us to save our clients time and money in research and engage in on-line document sharing, communication and other information exchange via E-mail.

We are also familiar with and abide by defense counsel guidelines. We employ an automated status report system which ensures the client is advised of the status of a case at least every 30 days or as often as requested.

We are approved counsel for numerous insurance carriers, including ACE U.S.A., BOAT U.S., Chartis/AIG, Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, CNA, Hanover, Homeowners Choice, Homewise, Lexington, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, Prudential, Travelers, Tower Hill, USF&G, USAA, XL Insurance Group, Bond Safeguard, Lexon, Clarity Group, and Wausau; and are also approved panel counsel for national companies such as Hertz Rental Car. We defend claims throughout the state through our 10 Florida offices.

Our litigation team handles a full range of insurance defense matters, including commercial, general liability, transportation casualty, property, uninsured motorist, real estate broker and malpractice. In addition, we manage first- and third-party coverage disputes, which often involve coverage opinions or underwriting disputes, and we bring declaratory judgment actions relating to coverage issues as necessary.

Our professional malpractice experience includes litigating medical, dental, legal, accountant, surveyor, architect and engineer malpractice claims. We handle maritime and admiralty claims, and also litigate in the areas of antitrust, aviation, banking, condemnation and eminent domain, construction, corporate, employment & labor, environmental, ERISA & employee benefits, health care, intellectual property, land use, medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability & toxic tort, professional malpractice, securities, and transportation.

Our lawyers are admitted to practice at every level of the state and federal court system in Florida. If a case is referred to the appellate level, our attorneys are experienced in representing clients as both appellees and appellants. Our insurance litigation practice also includes alternative dispute resolution and subrogation.
