Biography

Greg Parsons currently serves as the Office Executive Member for the Lexington office of Stites & Harbison PLLC and was a member of the firm's management committee from 2006 through 2010. He is a past chair of the firm's Construction Service Group, and Recruiting Committee.

Greg's practice area is litigation, with a particular emphasis on representing clients in construction and business disputes. He also drafts and reviews construction contracts and participates in alternative dispute resolution as an advocate and neutral. He has handled litigation and arbitration matters in various jurisdictions, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Connecticut, West Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Indiana, and the U. S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C.

Recent Assignments

· Represented a bank at trial resulting in a judgment of approximately $2 million in favor of our client that included an award of compensatory damages and treble damages, plus attorneys fees for claims of fraud, breach of contract, conversion and piercing the corporate veil.

· Served as co-counsel for a contractor in a multi-issue arbitration involving a manufacturing facility that resulted in an award that was favorable to our client.

· Was trial counsel for a hospital in a complex contract dispute that resulted in our client receiving its requested relief.

· Obtained a summary judgment for a large general contractor against an owner awarding our client $1.5 million in damages including out-of-pocket costs, lost profits, and attorney's fees.

· Obtained a $1.7 million judgment on behalf of an investment firm in a breach of contract case.

· Won an arbitration award on behalf of a hotel owner against a contractor for negligent misrepresentation regarding the construction budget and recovered substantial cost overruns, despite the fact that parties had a cost-plus contract with no guaranteed maximum price.

· Successfully represented a trade organization in the Kentucky Supreme Court in overturning an unauthorized practice of law opinion relating to real estate closings

He was also named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Lexington Litigation - Construction Lawyer of the Year.
