Holland & Hart's Torts and Insurance practice group represents defendants in all varieties of torts disputes, products liability cases, and matters involving insurance.

Products Liability
We have broad experience in the highly consequential and growing field of products liability defense, including extensive experience handling drug liability litigation. We provide advice concerning appropriate warnings to be given users or consumers of products, placement of such warnings, appropriate content for operating or equipment manuals, appropriate timing for design changes, necessity for inspection or testing, compliance with statutes and regulations, and determination of recall or retrofit advisability.

Our attorneys have served as local, regional, and national defense counsel in cases involving FDA-regulated products, consumer goods, industrial equipment, and numerous others. In the course of this representation, we have successfully executed a variety of defense strategies to minimize or eliminate loss to our clients.

Torts
Holland & Hart attorneys are prepared to represent defendants from initial accident investigation through discovery, settlement, trial, and appeals where necessary. Our experience includes defense of cases for clients of all sizes, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to privately held or family businesses. We boast experience in almost every type of tort litigation, including products liability, drug liability, negligence, defamation, toxic torts, business torts, engineering and design failure, fire and explosion, highway trucking accidents, industrial falls, chemical exposure, safety standard violations, product manufacturing accidents, heavy equipment operation, industrial disease and emotional injury. Our attorneys stay abreast of statutory changes, trends, and developments concerning torts in all jurisdictions in which we practice.

Insurance
Holland & Hart is experienced in all insurance issues, representing policyholders in a wide range of insurance claims, including coverage issues, policy defense, and premium collection. The firm's practice includes first and third party traditional insurance defense, including personal lines coverage, commercial lines coverage, and professional liability coverage. Our representation also consists of insurance coverage disputes, defense of bad faith claims, and matters related to surety, bonding, and life and health insurance claims. We provide ongoing counsel to businesses of all sizes regarding insurance issues, including cost-effective reviews of the insurance coverage held by a client and advice on risk reduction.

Complex Litigation
Complex tort litigation is managed with a team approach, ensuring that the right lawyer, with the proper experience and expertise, is assigned to each case and task. Our lawyers include several with relevant non-legal backgrounds, such as insurance and medicine. Often, our work involves leading teams of professionals and coordinating all aspects of the problem, including expert and testing work and communications from customer-claimants, insurers and stockholders, with a view toward bringing about a prompt and predictable resolution of the problem. We have experienced success in both state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions and achieved a number of defense verdicts over nationally-known plaintiffs' counsel. If necessary, we have an active appellate practice in both state and federal court.

Catastrophic accidents with multiple injuries often demand immediate response in anticipation of personal injury litigation. As clients often require legal assistance at this critical stage, Holland & Hart has formed a unique Emergency Response Team equipped with the commitment, training, experience, and equipment necessary to respond immediately to client emergencies.

• We created an Indian Law Practice Group and actively recruited Native American law students and lateral hires.
• Each year we contribute to such scholarship funds as the Colorado Native American Indian Scholarship Fund, the Sam Cary Scholarship Endowment Fund, the Colorado Asian American Bar Scholarship Fund, the Colorado Hispanic Bar Scholarship Fund, and the Colorado Women's Bar Association Scholarship Fund.
• In partnership with the University of Idaho School of Law, we sponsor a "Law by Day, Jazz by Night" each year for undergraduate minority students who have an interest in law.
• We took a leadership role in organizing and supporting the Colorado Pledge Group's Minority First Year Law Student Summer Clerk Program. Through this program, law firms agreed to add at least one diverse first year law student to their summer clerk program.
• We were involved in the creation of the Cross-Professional Business Networking Group, where diverse attorneys in our community can meet and network with non-attorney professionals of color. We view this as a way to help diverse attorneys increase their business development possibilities.
