James R. Brown, a partner in the Tampa office, joined Wicker, Smith in 1976. In his 32+ years of practicing law, Mr. Brown has served as lead counsel in over 100 civil jury trials, many involving catastrophic claims in the areas of general liability, products liability, commercial motor vehicle accidents, and construction litigation. He has represented many prestigious clients, to include AIG, Vanliner Insurance, Landstar Systems, Waste Management, Navistar, and Nationwide.
Among his professional affiliations, Mr. Brown is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation only group of trial attorneys required to be certified by the local bench and bar as exceptional practitioners in the community. He is also an active member in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association. His success as a litigator has earned him an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating award by that organization.
Mr. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in 1973 and his Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University in 1976.
