Jean-Charles René is a litigation lawyer with particular responsibility for various types of commercial litigation. Over the years he has developed special expertise in professional liability, insurance law and class action matters. His professional liability experience relates mainly to accountants, directors and officers, lawyers and other professionals. In insurance, he has focused on civil and professional liability, directors and officers' liability and commercial insurance. In the area of class actions, his experience has included dealing with the complex questions that arise in the homologation and administration of multijurisdictional settlements. He has frequently represented clients before the Quebec Superior Court, the Quebec Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
As General Counsel and Head of Compliance, Canada, Mr. René is a member of our Canadian ethics and conflicts of interest committee and our pro bono committee.
