The civil rights area continues to be one of the most controversial and dynamic in the law, and in recent years has seen a surge of enforcement activities, new statutes, claims for damages and policy initiatives.

On employment-related issues in particular, our Group works closely with the Firm's Labor and Employment Law Department, which has had a distinguished record for half a century. Building on that success, along with the Firm's long commitment to community service and pro bono activities, and on Kaye Scholer's reputation as one of the nation's preeminent litigation firms, this innovative Practice Group offers clients compliance advice on the complete range of civil rights issues. The Group represents clients in complex matters in court, before federal, state and local enforcement agencies, in ADR proceedings and has represented Fortune 100 companies, as well as one of the largest metropolitan transit authorities in the country, in high-profile, nationwide civil rights litigations. Directed from our Washington, DC office by Kerry Alan Scanlon, former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, the Group combines the talents of Kaye Scholer attorneys with experience in civil rights, labor and employment law, litigation and counseling.
