Keith McCrea practices energy law in the rapidly changing fields of natural gas, electric power, and renewable energy. With more than 35 years' experience in these highly specialized areas, Keith played an integral role in restructuring the natural gas and electric markets in California, which lead to changes in those industries across the United States. Keith has extensive experience in governmental investigations and in litigated matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the U.S. Courts of Appeal.
Representing clients across the full spectrum of the energy industry, including electric power, natural gas, oil pipeline and renewable energy sources, Keith has appeared before FERC, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and other federal agencies, as well as numerous state regulatory commissions. He advises clients on regulatory compliance issues associated with asset sales and acquisitions, market-based rate authorizations, market power analyses, price reporting and record retention requirements, and market behavior rules. He has extensive experience in FERC investigatory proceedings and other litigated matters, including market power issues, affiliate transactions and rate cases.
A member of Sutherland's Energy Practice Group, Keith counsels clients on regulatory and business matters associated with wholesale energy markets, regional transmission organizations, independent system operators, open access transmission tariffs, generation interconnection and transmission pricing.
Sutherland represents power marketer before FERC.
Sutherland represents a solar developer on interconnection issues.
Sutherland works with state and local officials in review of offshore energy facilities.
