Kevin R. Erdman is a partner in the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg, and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Department. Mr. Erdman concentrates his practice on information, Internet and intellectual property law, with a dual focus on patent, copyright, trademark issues and peripheral software, internet, privacy issues in corporate, commercial, and entrepreneurial settings. Mr. Erdman represents U.S. and international clients ranging from start-up companies to multinational corporations in a variety of matters including, U.S. and foreign patents; domain name disputes; software and content licensing; distribution and development agreements; electronic commerce agreements and procedures; privacy policies; patent licensing; and trademark and copyright registration, licensing and litigation. Among his clients are medical technology and bioinformatics companies, software companies and manufacturers. Mr. Erdman is a regular contributor to publications, and often speaks on the topics on intellectual property and information security issues. Annually, he is selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, and has been every year since 2008. He has also been listed in Indiana Super Lawyers in 2005-2009 and is rated AV® Preeminent in Intellectual Property by Martindale-Hubbel®. Mr. Erdman earned his B.S. in computer science from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1984. In 1987, he earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has presented on Internet law and privacy as a lecturer at Indiana University School of Law's Indianapolis and Bloomington campuses, and also at Anderson University. Mr. Erdman is a member of TechPoint and the IRTP Working Group of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He belongs to the Indianapolis, Indiana State and California State Bar Associations. In addition, Mr. Erdman is a member of the International Technology Law Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association and the U.S. section of the International Federation of Industrial Property Attorneys. Mr. Erdman is admitted to practice in the states of Indiana, California and Pennsylvania, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
