Practice/Industry Group Overview

Restructuring is a complex undertaking, with comprehensive legal ramifications that must be addressed proactively in order to avoid larger problems down the road. Attorneys in our Financial Restructuring Practice are recognized throughout the United States, not only for their business judgment and ability to negotiate and structure realistic business solutions for complex financial problems, but also for their effective courtroom advocacy. Our in-depth experience in general business, corporate finance, commercial finance and real estate transactions makes us uniquely equipped to understand the practicalities of distressed financial situations and to develop, in collaboration with our clients, strategies for optimum resolution of their problems. We have worked in a full spectrum of industries and business areas including retailing, manufacturing, franchising, licensing, real estate, service and technology.

Attorneys in the Financial Restructuring Group have served as trustees and examiners representing debtors, creditors' committees, equity committees, indenture trustees and purchasers, and prospective purchasers of debtors or their assets. They have also successfully represented individual secured and unsecured creditors and equity holders in some of our nation's largest bankruptcy proceedings.

In addition to the problems generally presented by distressed financial situations, we are experienced in addressing special issues that arise in cases involving mass torts, pension underfunding, labor unions, environmental contamination and intellectual property disputes. Our attorneys regularly work with financial institutions and multi-lender groups in loan restructuring and recovery matters.
