The commercial litigation team in London has depth and breadth of experience in assisting clients with litigation commenced in the English courts, and in international legal proceedings which require English law advice or assistance. Our team consists of English and "dual qualified" (US-UK) lawyers, as well as "solicitor advocates" who can represent clients in High Court proceedings.

We are adept at handling all aspects of litigation, from pre-action letters, to disclosure, trial and enforcement proceedings. The commercial litigation team takes an integrated approach to solving client's legal disputes:

• We seek to resolve disputes promptly, by utilising negotiation and alternative dispute resolution procedures, including mediation, expert determination and conciliation proceedings. Our lawyers regularly act as mediators and arbitrators, and know how to deploy ADR techniques to position our clients' cases effectively.
• The team regularly draws on the resources and expertise of the firm to manage "specialist" disputes in a cost-effective manner - particularly in cases which involve construction, intellectual property, high technology, biotechnology, insurance, banking, joint venture and licence issues.
• Our lawyers have experience in successfully managing "big cases" and complex disputes.

Recent matters include:

• Representation of a US multinational company in complex $20 million insurance litigation in the English High Court and the Florida Federal Court. (Matter settled to satisfaction of client).
• Representation of US and UK companies in breach of contract and debt collection litigation in the High Court relating to the development of computer hardware and software.
• Representation of US and UK companies in action relating to alleged wrongful termination of employee, and breach of joint venture agreement.
