Biography

Battle & Winn lawyer Adam Plant joined the firm after spending six years at a national litigation firm based in Birmingham. Before entering private practice, Adam served as a Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Alabama. During his time at the Office of the Alabama Attorney General, Adam litigated on behalf of the people of Alabama in both state and federal appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Alabama, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Adam then served as a law clerk for the Honorable William H. Pryor Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

At Battle & Winn, business and individual clients who need someone to steer them through tough cases hire Adam. He represents whistleblowers in False Claims Act and fraud cases. He wins cases on motions, at trial, and on appeal. He’s also conducted outside investigations for institutional clients, worked to protect voting rights, and negotiated the first NIL deal for a college athlete ever in Alabama. During his career, Adam has represented numerous clients in complex litigation and class actions. He has represented small businesses, shareholders, members of the United States Armed Forces, doctors and medical associations, cattle ranchers, and row crop farmers in state and federal courts nationwide, including extensive multidistrict litigation. He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest possible peer review rating. Adam was once a “Super Lawyers Rising Star”—a recognition limited to only 2.5% of Alabama lawyers under 40 each year, but then he aged out and became a regular Mid-South Super Lawyer. For more than a decade, Adam’s clients and peers have made him an AV-rated lawyer on Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible ranking.

Adam grew up on a farm in Madison County, Alabama. He and his wife Abbey have three children. Adam is chair of the Birmingham Bar’s Federal Practice Section and serves as a member of the Birmingham Bar Association Executive Committee. He has served the profession as a member of the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference planning committee, a graduate of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum, and a member of several Alabama State Bar task forces and committees. He has served his community as a member of the Cahaba Heights Master Plan Steering Committee for the City of Vestavia Hills and the advisory board for the Samford University Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Adam is an ordained Baptist deacon, certified Memphis In May BBQ judge, and recovering youth sports coach.
