Adam Richard Cooper: Attorney with Belluck Law, LLP

Biography

What happens to someone who develops mesothelioma, what happens to that person and his or her loved ones because of some corporation’s wrongdoing, is beyond tragic. That’s why I’m so very, very grateful for the opportunity each and every day to provide some measure of justice for the victims of asbestos.   Adam Cooper is an associate attorney assigned to our Asbestos Litigation group. Part of the Weitz & Luxenberg team since 2006, he has helped many asbestos-exposure victims and their surviving family members obtain deserved justice and needed financial compensation.Reach Us Now In 2013, Mr. Cooper was instrumental in securing a verdict worth a combined $190 million for five mesothelioma victims from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut (tried in the Empire State, this was the largest consolidated asbestos verdict in New York history and, for two of the plaintiffs, the $60 million each received represented what is believed to be the largest individual sums ever awarded in a New York asbestos case). Also in 2013, Mr. Cooper helped win $35 million for the family of a New York man who came to America from Croatia in search of a better life but instead died of mesothelioma. In 2006, Mr. Cooper was key to securing a $25-million verdict against Chrysler Corp. on behalf of a Brooklyn brake-repair specialist — a retired police officer — whose right lung was lost to mesothelioma. Prior to 2006, Mr. Cooper practiced law as an attorney with the firm Levy Phillips & Konigsberg, where he handled asbestos cases along with those involving lead poisoning and other torts. A member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Assn., Mr. Cooper began his law career upon admission to the Bar of the State of New York in 1994. He also is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in its New York Southern and Eastern jurisdictions, a privilege he has held since 2000. In 1993, Mr. Cooper received a juris doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law. At the University of Michigan, where he obtained a bachelor degree in sociology, Mr. Cooper was multiple times named to the dean’s list of high academic achievers.
