Biography

Alan Genitempo is currently the Township Attorney for the Township of Nutley, and is a partner at Piro, Zinna, Cifelli, Paris & Genitempo. He is well-known throughout Essex County for his more than 32 years of experience as a labor and employment law attorney. He specializes in the litigation of sexual harassment claims and employment matters, under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, including wrongful termination, age, gender, race and sex discrimination and hostile work environment claims. He also handles matters before the EEOC and NJ Division of Civil Rights, and the Administrative Law Court. He also handles employment contracts, professional liability, commercial law, construction law and other litigation matters. He advises companies and municipalities regularly on a wide variety of workplace employment issues and provides training on the issues of risk management, employment practices and civil rights. The Seton Hall University and New York Law School graduate was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1987 and the New York Bar the following year. He joined the firm in 1988, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Court of Federal Claims. He is a member of the Essex County Bar Association, and previously served as the Township of Nutley's Prosecutor from 2002 until 2013.
