Biography

Albert “Abbie” Dunn, Jr. is Of Counsel in Bailey & Wyant, PLLC’s Charleston office.

Abbie received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1985.

In 1990, Abbie obtained his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. He was then admitted to practice in state court and before the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.

After receiving his law degree, Abbie started his legal career with the Office of the West Virginia Attorney General in 1990 and then was hired to function as an Administrative Law Judge for the WV State Education and Employees Grievance Board from 1992-1996. He started in private practice as an insurance defense attorney with Meyer, Darraugh, Buckler, Bebenek and Eck, in 1996, that then became MacCorkle, Lavender & Sweeney, PLLC. Abbie was a partner at that firm for his last 5 years. He then worked at Allen, Kopet & Associates before joining the firm in 2013.

As Of Counsel at Bailey & Wyant, Abbie will be focusing his practice in the areas of general civil litigation and insurance defense; medical malpractice; defense of predatory lending claims; coverage and bad faith; consumer protection cases; construction defect claims; product liability; and deliberate intent claims and representing veterinarians in contested cases before the WV Board of Veterinarian Medicine.
