Biography

Alvaro A. Llosa, a native of Rockville, Maryland, has spent his career defending low income individuals from financial woes, including foreclosure defense and bankruptcy. Mr. Llosa is also committed to providing the same high level of service to the Spanish-speaking population.

After attending Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., Mr. Llosa graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with two Bachelor of Arts degrees: one in Economics, and the other in Spanish Language and Literatures. While pursuing his undergraduate degrees, Mr. Llosa worked for a financial advising company.

Mr. Llosa attended the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Mr. Llosa was the recipient of the Dean’s Award both his second and third years of law school, and completed the Business Law Program in connection with his Juris Doctorate degree. In his second year, Mr. Llosa was an intern for the Honorable Alexander Wright, Jr. in the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland.

While in law school, as an intern for the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, Mr. Llosa designed changes to the Foreclosure Prevention Program for low-income individuals to provide better access to the Spanish-speaking community, a program he volunteers for still today. Mr. Llosa also spent a year offering pro bono public mediation services at the District Court of Maryland for Baltimore City through the law school’s Mediation Clinic. In addition, during the majority of his law school tenure Mr. Llosa worked as a law clerk for a civil defense firm in Rockville, Maryland, focusing on personal injury, complex tort litigation, insurance law, and business law.

After law school, Mr. Llosa spent some time working for a mortgage lender, learning the ins and outs of mortgage laws and how mortgage companies operate from the inside. Mr. Llosa was then able to put this knowledge to use working for a small law firm in Montgomery County, practicing bankruptcy law, foreclosure defense, and labor and employment law. Mr. Llosa is fluent in Spanish, and is ready and able to help you in your legal needs.
