Biography

Amir Benakote is an attorney in the Los Angeles office, where he concentrates his practice in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. Mr. Benakote represents and counsels employers across various industries in a broad range of employment matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. He has significant experience defending employers in single and multiple plaintiff discrimination, harassment and retaliation matters including claims based on race, national origin, sex, religion, and disability discrimination. In addition to his employment background, he also advises and represents employers in a broad range of labor law matters arising under federal and state law including: wage and hour litigation, such as claims involving minimum wage and overtime wage compensation obligations, classification of employees as overtime exempt, and meal and rest break issues; class action litigation; and California and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration reporting and litigation.

Before joining the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group, Mr. Benakote gained valuable experience as an associate at Wilson Elser Moscowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP, where his practice included labor and employment, products liability and personal injury. He also has prior experience representing plaintiffs in consumer class actions, mass actions, general business litigation and tort claims. Mr. Benakote maintains an active pro bono practice assisting indigent pro se litigants represent themselves in federal court.
