Biography

Amy Cobert Haber is a partner and one of the founders of the firm. Her practice focuses mainly on all aspects of Matrimonial and Family Law as well as Criminal defense work. Since 1988 Amy has equally represented both men and women, monied spouses and un-monied spouses, in their actions for divorce, both when they are the plaintiff and the defendant. Because of this experience, she understands the dynamics from both sides and can counsel her clients as to what they are entitled to and what they can expect.

Early in her career, when she was busy raising her own children, Amy had a busy practice serving as a Law Guardian in the Nassau County Family Court representing the children of divorcing parents. That experience was invaluable to making her sensitive to the needs of the children caught in the middle of this traumatic experience, not of their choosing and out of their control.

Amy is also an experienced mediator and has successfully mediated many matrimonial matters between parties who are motivated to avoid litigation.

Amy has practiced all aspects of criminal law since 1974, representing defendants in misdemeanors and felonies, DUIs and domestic violence cases where one party is seeking an order of protection against the other. Both criminal law and family law intersect in these types of cases. Amy has also successfully defending the rights of juveniles in Family Court on allegations of juvenile delinquency and PINS petitions.

Amy was one of the prosecutors for the Village of East Hills from 1992-2011. In that capacity she prosecuted all types of traffic matters and zoning matters for the Village of East Hills. As such, she is knowledgeable about all aspects of traffic violations and has represented clients in traffic matters all over Nassau and Suffolk Counties as well as the five boroughs of New York.
