Biography

Amy O’Connor concentrates her practice on elder law, estate planning, and trust and estate administration encompassing all aspects of trusts and estates law and elder law, including probate and administration of estates and trusts, established of revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, health care proxies, living wills, and powers of attorney.

Background/Education

Ms. O’Connor graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School and received her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, graduating cum laude.

Representative Accomplishments

•Assists elderly clients and their families with legal and tax issues including estate tax planning, preservation of assets, long-term care planning, eligibility for governmental benefits including Medicaid, disability planning, supplemental needs trust and guardianship proceedings.

Professional/Community

Active in her community, Ms. O’Connor serves as a board member, secretary and Chair of Professional Advisor Council for Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region; board member, Secretary of the Community Hospice Foundation and is on the Investment Advisory Committee for the Center for Disability Services.

Presentations

Ms. O’Connor is a frequent lecturer on numerous elder law and estate planning topics for professional and civic groups including programs sponsored by the New York State Bar Association.

Ms. O'Connor is a member of the Albany County, New York State, and Capital District Women's Bar Associations. Ms. O'Connor serves on the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section and is the Vice Chair of Health Care Issues of the New York State Bar Association. Additionally, she is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorney and a past member of the Council on Women's Studies at Duke University.
