Biography

André G. Travieso is the owner and founder of Travieso Law. With every client, André’s plan of action is simple – deliver a knockout. Travieso Law is an established and premier law firm in New York and New Jersey. Travieso Law has created a distinctive niche by emphasizing personalized service, accessibility, transparency and unprecedented support for clients.

Mr. Travieso, who is fluent in Spanish, began his legal career in 2000 after graduating from Columbia University (B.A.) and Rutgers Law School (J.D.). Before opening his own firm, André garnered his business law expertise as a corporate attorney with employment at some of New York’s finest and most prestigious firms, including Kramer, Levin, Naftalis & Frankel, LLP, Brown & Wood, LLP and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP. At Kramer Levin, he specialized in corporate finance and capital markets. Mr. Travieso is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey.

In addition to his successful law career, André is a public speaker, philanthropist, mentor, world traveler, avid reader, competitive athlete and champion for the underdog. As a public speaker, André speaks to teens about striving for success, overcoming adversity and positive ways to interact with police officers. He also speaks to parents about keeping their kids safe on the internet, bullying and the importance of estate planning.

André supports many philanthropic organizations and has launched a campaign to collect used cell phones for domestic violence victims in Nairobi, Kenya. He also enjoys Crossfit and running marathons. André has ran and completed his hometown New York City Marathon and the Philadelphia Marathon. In his youth, André was an amateur boxer and traveled internationally as part of a National Boxing team.

André is a world traveler and has visited 43 countries and counting. He ran with the bulls in Spain, rode a camel at the great pyramids of Giza in Egypt, hiked the trials to Machu Picchu in Peru, walked up the stairs of the Great Wall of China and swam with whales in the Dominican Republic.

When André isn’t busy in court, speaking, traveling or meeting with clients, he can be found at Super Bowls, Yankee Stadium, championship boxing matches in Las Vegas, museums and Broadway plays. When asked what five items he would leave in a time capsule to represent his life, André replied – his passport, a pair of boxing gloves, Marvin Gaye’s music, the Seinfeld Box set and a pair of designer shoes representing his love affair with fashion.

He is also a nationally published author in the field of employee free speech and his legal insight and article Employee Free Speech Rights in the Workplace: Balancing the First Amendment Against Racist Speech by Police Officers has been cited by leading experts in the First Amendment field.

André is also an advocate for his hometown of the Bronx, New York—where he also has an additional satellite office to better serve his client base. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Bronx County Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Puerto Rican Bar Association and the Metropolitan Black Bar Association.
