Biography

Andrea Austin focuses her practice on the development, operation, and renovation of professional sports facilities, with robust experience representing public sector owners of professional sports facilities and professional sports teams in negotiating and structuring new sports venue development and renovations for NBA, MLB, NFL, MiLB, and USL facilities, as well as advising clients on a broad range of real estate transactions and public-private partnerships.

Experience: Representative Matters: Representing Denver Summit FC in the development of a new training facility, permanent stadium and, in partnership with a local school district, an interim stadium and soccer field complex.; Representing the Charlotte Hornets in development of a new NBA training facility, as part of a larger transaction for which we negotiated and drafted the agreements to extend the Hornets' term at Spectrum Arena and renovate Spectrum Arena over multiple seasons.; Representing the Memphis Grizzlies in the multi-phased renovation of FedExForum.; Representing the city of Green Bay in negotiations with the Green Bay Packers for an extended lease term at Lambeau Field.; Represented an ownership group in negotiating the terms for acquisition of a USL Super League franchise.; Representing a client in the P3 delivery of a student housing complex for a Bay Area community college.; Representing a national industrial developer client in the development, governance and sale of various industrial and commercial business parks.; On behalf of the city of Anaheim, negotiated and drafted transaction documents for the sale of Angel Stadium of Anaheim to a team ownership affiliate, spearheading the city's diligence, and worked hand-in-hand with the city's legal, planning and public works departments to address issues related to the planned redevelopment of 130 acres of surface parking surrounding Angel Stadium.; Counseled a client on the sale and adaptive re-use of a 70-acre decommissioned Burnham railyard that will be the new home of the Denver Broncos.; Represented the city of Phoenix in its negotiations with the Phoenix Suns to extend the team's term at Footprint Center, including negotiating a reallocation of responsibility for capital improvements at the arena and structuring the terms of a $230 million renovation of the facility.; Represented the public owner of T-Mobile Park in renegotiating the Seattle Mariners' lease, with new provisions that incorporate improved community benefits, shift responsibility to the Mariners for upgrading the ballpark over time and protect the public's investment.; Represented the city of Phoenix in renegotiating the Milwaukee Brewers' agreements for use of the city-owned Cactus League spring training facilities, which included extending the Brewers' term, negotiating a new non-relocation agreement, and structuring the development rights for the Brewers to undertake a significant mixed-use development of adjacent city-owned land.; Negotiated and drafted the primary agreements for a $1.5 billion redevelopment of the Kansas City Airport's terminal modernization program.; Advised a private sector client on the P3 transaction structure and deal documents for an energy district serving Denver's National Western Center.; Supported development of a privately owned high-speed rail project in Southern Nevada.; The above representations were handled by Ms. Austin prior to her joining Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
