Professional Experience
Andrea Dalton is a seasoned attorney with 22 years of experience in family law. Her practice encompasses a wide range of matters, including divorce (both pre- and post-decree), child custody, high-asset divorces, protection orders, and property division. Andrea is licensed to practice in Colorado and is in the process of securing admission to the State Bar of Wyoming.
Passion for Family Law
Andrea's commitment to family law stems from personal experience, having encountered divorce at a young age. This early exposure provided her with a deep understanding of how divorce impacts children and families. Guided by the belief that parents remain a family for the sake of their children, Andrea prioritizes the best interests of the child(ren) in every case. She is dedicated to delivering compassionate and committed support to her clients during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
Educational Background and Early Career
Andrea holds dual undergraduate degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Wyoming. She furthered her education by interning in Washington, D.C., for Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming before attending the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. While pursuing her law degree at night, Andrea gained valuable experience working as a paralegal during the day, which gave her comprehensive insight into the legal process from start to finish.
Her education also included a semester abroad at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China. During law school, Andrea volunteered for the Family Law Clinic at the University of Denver and completed two judicial clerkships with the Honorable Jack Berryhill and the Honorable Stephen Munsinger. She believes that giving back is not only professionally fulfilling, but it also adds to a sense of purpose helping other people.
Professional Journey
Upon graduating from law school, Andrea founded her own law firm and subsequently worked at several family law firms. She is passionate about serving underserved communities and actively contributes to Metro Volunteer Lawyers. Andrea is now a Senior Attorney at Johnson Law Group, where her extensive expertise and compassionate approach make her an invaluable member of our team.
Personal Interests
Outside of her legal career, Andrea enjoys volunteering and spending quality time with her family and children. A lover of Colorado’s stunning outdoors, she often skis with friends and family in the state's incredible mountains. Andrea also has a passion for reading, exploring Denver’s vibrant restaurant scene with her two college-aged sons, and caring for her three beloved cats—Inky, Ellen, and Charlie.
Her love of travel has taken her across Europe, particularly Germany, and Southeast Asia, enriching her perspective and personal fulfillment.
