Andrea J. Burns, a seasoned attorney, commenced her academic journey
by earning a bachelor's degree in public health from Johns Hopkins
University in 1998. Subsequently, she pursued her legal education at
Widener University School of Law, culminating in the attainment of
her law degree in May 2003.
Embarking on her
law career, Andrea commenced as a staff attorney at a non-profit
firm. In this role, she exhibited a passion for social justice by
successfully representing low-income clients in landlord-tenant
disputes. Simultaneously, she demonstrated versatility by drafting
wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Andrea's commitment extended
to providing healthcare advocacy for senior citizens and low-income
families, offering invaluable assistance on matters related to
Medicare, Medicaid, COBRA, and other healthcare programs.
In 2011, Andrea
transitioned to a prominent personal injury, workers' compensation,
and Social Security disability firm based in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Here, she stood as a formidable advocate, representing
thousands of clients at all levels of appeal for Social Security
Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims.
Her proficiency was evident in conducting over 150 hearings before
Administrative Law Judges, securing over $724,000 in back payments
for her clients.
Following this
impactful period, Andrea took on the role of a corporate compliance
and development officer for a non-profit health center in Mobile,
Alabama. In this capacity, she meticulously ensured adherence to
policies and procedures in accordance with the Center's Standards of
Conduct. Her responsibilities included collaborating with other
departments to identify areas of risk and trends, ultimately
developing action plans to resolve identified issues.
Before joining
Pond Lehocky Disability, Andrea devoted her time as a volunteer
attorney for a non-profit legal aid network in Mobile, Alabama. In
this capacity, she represented SSI clients in court and undertook
pro-bono work, showcasing her continued dedication to serving those
