Andrew C. DeGory

Area of Emphasis

Andy DeGory is an associate in the Litigation Group of Babst Calland. Mr. DeGory has a broad range of experience representing clients in energy, environmental, complex commercial, and labor and employment litigation.

Mr. DeGory’s energy litigation experience includes representing oil and gas producers in complex commercial disputes, lease disputes, and environmental tort claims. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, as well as alternative dispute resolution forums.

Mr. DeGory also has extensive experience leading and managing large e-discovery projects in conjunction with complex litigation matters.

Background

Mr. DeGory graduated from Colgate University in 2012, earning a B.A. in Political Science and minoring in Geology. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2019. He was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship and earned two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Legal Analysis & Writing and Trial Advocacy. Prior to law school, Mr. DeGory worked in the media industry in New York City for four years.

While at Pitt Law, Mr. DeGory served as Executive Editor and Articles Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review and was a teaching assistant for first-year Legal Analysis & Writing students. In the spring of 2018, he teamed up with a fellow classmate to win the annual Murray S. Love Mock Trial Competition. During law school, Mr. DeGory served as summer law clerk for the Honorable Philip A. Ignelzi of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas and as a summer associate at Babst Calland.

Memberships and Affiliations

Mr. DeGory is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar associations. Mr. DeGory is also a member of Babst Calland’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Mr. DeGory serves on the Board of Directors for Run Around the Square, a charity 5K race held annually in Pittsburgh. In 2022, he was selected to participate in the Pittsburgh Foundation’s New Philanthropic Leaders cohort.

Mr. DeGory was named to The Institute of Energy Law (IEL) 2025-2026 Leadership Class. He has received a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America recognition for Commercial Litigation since 2024. Mr. DeGory was also selected to the 2023-2025 Pennsylvania Rising Stars lists (Thomson Reuters).
