Biography

Andrew J. Fisher is an Associate at Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP, where he works with the Firm’s Appellate Practice Group to secure favorable outcomes for clients in a broad range of appeals.

Prior to joining MCB, Andrew was Of Counsel at a small New York area law firm specializing in appellate representation. There, he worked exclusively on civil appeals in matters such as premises liability, personal injury, corporate mergers, property law, and medical malpractice. Specific responsibilities included conducting legal research; drafting appellate briefs; reviewing the record on appeal; and developing case strategies based on the legal issues identified.

Prior to this position, Andrew served as a Registered Legal Aid attorney in California, where he concentrated on guardianship and eviction defense cases. Responsibilities included determining which cases to accept; developing case strategies as appropriate; representing clients at court hearings and trial; and negotiating settlements. He also supervised the office’s two guardianship units, including attorneys and paralegals, and trained and supervised new staff attorneys, paralegals, and interns.

Earlier still, Andrew held several positions as a law clerk and legal intern/ex-tern. Collectively, these roles provided rigorous training in legal research and draftsmanship, as well as detailed familiarization with the litigation process.

In 2024, Andrew was an Adjunct Professor at the Kern College of Law in Bakersfield, California, teaching a clinic on tenants’ rights; supervising student interactions with clinic participants; and evaluating student performance during the semester.

Andrew obtained his B.A. from Grand Valley State University, receiving an Academic Merit Scholarship. He earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he served as Executive Director of the Moot Court Honor Society and received awards for excellence in both Oral Advocacy and Appellate Advocacy.

He is admitted to practice in New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
