Tony Abbatangelo, Esq. is an attorney
who has a deep connection to the legal profession, having been born
into a family of lawyers. His parents ran a successful law firm in
Las Vegas, and Tony spent his formative years in the firm, gaining
firsthand exposure to the legal world. Witnessing the dedication and
passion of his parents, Tony knew from a young age that becoming an
attorney was his calling.
Tony's parents moved to Las
Vegas in 1961 and immediately fell in love with the city's glitz,
glamour, and great weather. Growing up in Las Vegas, Tony experienced
the tight-knit community and developed a profound understanding of
the city's culture and dynamics. He considers Las Vegas his home and
is committed to serving its residents.
Having grown up in
a law firm, Tony was exposed to various legal matters from an early
age. He accompanied his father to court and assisted in the firm's
day-to-day operations. Tony's father handled a diverse range of
cases, from personal injury to criminal law, giving Tony a
comprehensive understanding of different legal areas.
After
completing his education at the University of San Diego law school
and passing the Nevada bar exam, Tony joined his father's law firm.
His early experiences as an attorney included representing clients in
jury trials, where he quickly demonstrated his abilities by securing
favorable outcomes for his clients. Tony also learned valuable
lessons about humility and the importance of establishing a strong
connection with the jury.
Tony attributes much of his
success and approach to the valuable lessons he learned from his
mother. She emphasized the importance of respect, communication, and
compassion in dealing with clients. Tony values the trust clients
place in him during their challenging times and strives to treat them
with the utmost respect and compassion.
In 1993, Tony
decided to run for Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge due to his
dissatisfaction with the treatment of people by a particular judge.
Through dedicated campaigning, Tony became the youngest attorney ever
elected judge in Nevada history. He served as a judge for 14 years,
overseeing a wide range of cases and earning a reputation for his
fair and well-regarded judgments.
During his time as a
judge, Tony initiated the DUI Court, the first certified program of
its kind in Nevada. He also played a key role in the creation of the
Moderate Offender Program (MOP), recognizing the importance of
restorative justice and providing second chances to individuals
struggling with addiction or who had made poor decisions.
After
leaving the bench and entering private practice, Tony continued to
uphold his reputation as a skilled and compassionate attorney. He
handles both criminal and civil cases, excelling as a negotiator and
trial attorney. Tony is actively involved in legal and community
organizations and maintains a strong presence in southern Nevada's
trial courts.
