Ari Silverman concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts. Ari represents domestic and international financial institutions, monoline insurers, and other public and privately-held corporations, as well as individuals. He has helped clients resolve contractual disputes relating to mortgage-backed securities, merger-related litigations, Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission FCPA and accounting-related investigations, and RICO litigations. Ari also counsels various governmental agencies and government-sponsored enterprises in connection with real and threatened litigations arising from contemplated and undertaken business decisions He has significant experience managing complex, large-scale projects, particularly e-discovery projects involving multiple sources of electronically-stored information.
Strongly committed to pro bono work, Ari has been recognized by the New York State Bar Association and the Legal Aid Society for his efforts on several occasions. He has helped public housing tenants facing eviction, disabled persons denied social security and other benefits, foreign-born persons seeking asylum in the United States, and not-for-profit groups in a variety of situations, from starting up to resolving employment disputes. Ari has represented such clients in housing court, in administrative hearings, and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, on the trial and appellate level.
Ari has presented CLEs and frequently trains others in areas of e-discovery, privilege and document review. He also frequently visits law schools and sits on panels to discuss his litigation experiences, as well as to provide students training on interviewing and resume-writing.
Ari received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rutgers College at Rutgers University, and he earned a Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law - Newark, where he was recognized as an Honorable Joseph F. Smith Scholar and was a recipient of the Nathan N. Schildkraut Award for excellence in appellate advocacy, and was the Chairperson of the Moot Court Board. Ari is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
