Biography

Asif Ehsan is the founder and managing attorney of Ehsan Law, PLLC, and his immigration practice is deeply personal. He first came to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar and earned his bachelor’s degree at Macalester College in Minnesota. After graduating from Kabul University’s Law Faculty, he returned to the U.S. through a U.S. Department of State-funded scholarship to complete his LL.M. at Washington and Lee University School of Law. Asif hoped to take what he learned back to Afghanistan to support legal reform, and he worked in justice-focused roles and taught law at the university level. But after he earned his J.D. from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, conditions in Afghanistan worsened and returning was no longer safe. He stayed in the U.S. and had to rebuild his life, this time as a refugee. During that period, an immigration lawyer’s advocacy helped him secure lawful status, shaping the mission he follows today: helping immigrants navigate both the legal process and the human journey. Before opening his firm, Asif served as a prosecutor in Minnesota and Washington.
