Atty. Corinne Kaplan: Attorney with Kaplan Law Firm, S.C.

Biography

Corinne is president and shareholder of Kaplan Law Firm, S.C., a firm dedicated to Family Matters and Results That Count, serving our clients' family law needs (divorce/custody/placement/support), paternity matters, guardianships, real estate transactions, and alternative dispute resolution (arbitration/mediation) needs. She has been practicing law for more than twenty-five (25) years. A graduate of Indiana University for both her undergraduate and legal education, Corinne received an undergraduate degree in political science with an outside field in business administration, and her Juris Doctorate (J.D., Doctorate of Law) degree with specialties in taxation and securities.

Attorney Kaplan was admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin in 1984. While an extremely skilled family law practitioner, she is also very well versed in real estate law, business and taxation law, personal injury law, and sport law.

Before pioneering Kaplan Law Firm, S.C., Attorney Kaplan worked as an accountant and tax specialist for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (1984-1986), as an associate attorney for Davis & Kuelthau, S.C. (1986-1987), as a consult and register representative for Kidder, Peabody & Co. (1987-1989), as an associate attorney for Starobin & Associates, S.C. (1989-1990), and as an attorney for Lee F. Calvey & Associates, S.C. (1990-1992). Also, Attorney Kaplan worked as a mediator and arbitrator for Alternative Dispute Resolutions, Inc. (1994-2000).

Attorney Kaplan served as the 2010 President of the Ozaukee County Bar Association. She has membership in the American Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association and Family Law Section, and the Sports Lawyer Association. She has been a frequent presenter at continuing legal education seminars in business, tax, and family law areas. Most recently, she presented a paper on excellence in teaching sport law at 2010 Sports Lawyer Association national conference, and a continuing legal education seminar on Qualified Domestic Relations Orders in divorce, for the National Business Institute.

Besides law, Attorney Kaplan is passionate about teaching; for more than twenty-eight years, she has served as a professor at Cardinal Stritch University, teaching at both the undergraduate and MBA levels, courses such as Business Law, Sport Law, Economics, Accounting, Human Resources, Organization and Management, Fund-Raising and Philanthropy, and Ethics. For Attorney Kaplan, this ongoing experience is a way to remain current both in technology and in legal issues, and to pursue her passion of helping students achieve their dream careers and goals.

Corinne is the mother of three highly accomplished adult children - mother of five, if you include her two dachshunds, and a brand new grandmother.
