Biography

Austin Hiroichi Jim On joined Kobayashi Sugita & Goda in 2022. He focuses his law practice in commercial litigation, construction litigation, and intellectual property law.

Education

Mr. Jim On earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law with a concentration in intellectual property law. While in law school, he volunteered as an extern for the Honorable Dean E. Ochiai in the Circuit Court of the First Circuit, State of Hawaii.

Mr. Jim On served as an editor for the Hastings Science and Technology Law Journal and served on the Executive Board for the Hastings Hawaii Hui. Mr. Jim On also participated in Hastings’s “Startup Legal Garage Clinic.” There, he worked with attorneys from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati to advise international startups on intellectual property matters. Mr. Jim On graduated from `Iolani School in 2015. He then earned his mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University, where he minored in intellectual property law and received an entrepreneurship certificate. While in college, Mr. Jim On interned at Insynergy Engineering (Honolulu, HI), Economy Plumbing & Sheet Metal (Honolulu, HI), and Nordic PCL Construction (Honolulu, HI).

Mr. Jim On is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and is licensed to practice law in the State of Hawaii and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii.
