Biography

Austin Townsend is a personal injury attorney at Morris & Dewett Injury Lawyers, representing plaintiffs in motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury cases across Louisiana. Mr. Townsend earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northwestern State University, then his Juris Doctor with Cum Laude honors from Southern University Law Center. He has family members in legal practice and pursued appellate court experience from the start. During law school he externed for the Honorable Jeff Thompson at the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Second Circuit in Shreveport. He then clerked for the Honorable Jewel E. Welch with the Louisiana Court of Appeals, First Circuit in Baton Rouge, and earlier clerked at the Red River Parish Courthouse, 39th Judicial District. These appellate clerkships gave him experience in legal research, brief writing, and appellate strategy that supports his preparation at every stage of litigation. He joined Morris & Dewett in July 2023.
