Biography

Barbara Y. Strnad is a shareholder of Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. and Co-Chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee . She concentrates her practice on real estate, energy/natural resources, business transactions, and employment law.

Ms. Strnad counsels various clients on transactional matters, including acquisitions and divestiture, private equity deals, and land and title issues, as well as employment-related agreements and policies. She focuses much of her time on the negotiation and drafting of documents for such engagements, ensuring that clients realize their business objectives. Additionally, she aids clients in estate planning and administration.

Ms. Strnad is experienced in managing due diligence transactions, including commercial buy-sell agreements and energy-related sales and trades. She also handles contract litigation disputes pertaining to employment and real estate. Her energy and natural resources experience extends to matters involving complex leaseholds, fractionalized heirships, dormant oil and gas issues, and abandoned railroad, steel, and industrial properties.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Strnad worked in the energy and natural resources group at a regional law firm. She also has experience working in marketing and market research.

Representative Matters: Managed due diligence project for leasehold acreage swap involving property valued at nearly $250 million and leading a team of more than 25 other attorneys; Managed due diligence project for leasehold acreage and related assets valued at over $40 million; Served as counsel during the completion of private equity transaction for growing exploration and production company, including negotiation and drafting of operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and master service agreements; Drafted and reviewed division order title opinions, including units created under statutory (mandatory pooling) orders; Examined assets and prepared defect notices for time-sensitive due diligence project to support client bidding on more than 30,000 acres of fee and leasehold oil and gas acreage held in bankruptcy; Assisted in successfully negotiating the surrender of disputed legacy acreage for Marcellus operator holding top leases on the property; Advised pipeline easement owner on scope of original grant, permissible expansion activities, and potential responses to nearby easement owner's demands pertaining to that expansion; Managed title review project for regional oil and gas company obtaining small acreage leases for unitization; Assisted in the preparation of large scale title report for midstream company planning pipeline development through abandoned railroad property
