Biography

Barry has devoted his career in private practice to assisting both businesses and individuals in resolving legal disputes. Barry has extensive trial and appellate experience and utilizes his knowledge to assist his clients make meaningful decisions in how to cost-effectively manage business disputes. He represents clients in many real estate-related matters such as landlord-tenant disputes, mortgage foreclosures, mechanics' lien cases and other construction-related disputes as well as general commercial matters. In addition, Barry works with owners of businesses with shareholder and partnership disputes, helping them resolve these problems in a cost-effective manner, preferably without litigation. Barry is admitted to the bars of Illinois and Georgia, including all state courts, appellate courts and the Supreme Court of Illinois, United States District Court for the Northern District and Central District of Illinois as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Barry is also a member of the Federal Trial Bar, a unique certification found only in the Northern District of Illinois. This certification authorizes Barry to act as lead counsel in cases tried in the Northern District. He is also admitted to all courts in Georgia, including Appellate Court and Supreme Court where he argued numerous cases as an assistant district attorney before relocating to the Chicago area. Barry is also certified by the State of Illinois as and administrative hearing officer, authorizing him to adjudicate ordinance violations on behalf of various Illinois municipalities. He is also approved as outside counsel for the FDIC.
