Biography

Ben Friedman is a Houston criminal defense attorney and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. A native Houstonian and graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, Mr. Friedman has dedicated his legal career to defending individuals accused of criminal offenses throughout Harris County and the Greater Houston area.

Before joining Michael & Associates, Mr. Friedman served as an Assistant Public Defender with the Harris County Public Defender's Office, where he spent more than six years representing clients in misdemeanor and felony cases. His experience as a public defender reinforced his commitment to protecting constitutional rights and ensuring every client receives a vigorous and meaningful defense.

Throughout his career, and particularly during his tenure with the Harris County Public Defender's Office, Mr. Friedman regularly appeared in court defending clients accused of offenses ranging from DWI and drug possession to sexual assault and homicide. During this time, he gained extensive trial experience and secured dismissals, grand jury no-bills, favorable resolutions, and acquittals in cases ranging from routine misdemeanors to high-stakes felony prosecutions.

At Michael & Associates, Mr. Friedman represents clients accused of DWI, drug crimes, assault and domestic violence allegations, theft offenses, weapons charges, probation violations, sex crimes, and serious felony offenses. He works closely with clients and their families throughout every stage of the criminal process, from investigation and arrest through negotiation, trial, and post-disposition matters.

Known for his client-centered approach, Mr. Friedman believes effective criminal defense begins with listening. He takes the time to understand each client's circumstances, concerns, and goals before developing a defense strategy tailored to the unique facts of the case. Clients frequently appreciate his responsiveness, accessibility, and commitment to keeping them informed throughout the legal process. Feedback from former clients consistently highlights his empathy, clear communication, and ability to help individuals and families navigate difficult situations while making informed decisions about their defense.

Mr. Friedman's practice is built on the principle that every person deserves a vigorous defense and meaningful advocacy. Whether representing someone charged with a first-time DWI or defending against a serious felony accusation, he is committed to protecting constitutional rights, challenging the prosecution's evidence, and pursuing the best possible outcome in every case.

As part of Michael & Associates, Mr. Friedman is backed by a team of more than 40 criminal defense attorneys with over 1,000 combined jury trials and experience spanning virtually every area of Texas criminal law.
