Biography

Benjamin Michael Esco is a Partner in the firm’s Miami and Key West offices. He has practiced as an Insurance Defense Trial Lawyer for thirty-six years. His emphasis is in trucking accident defense, negligent security, premises liability defense, for commercial, residential, and hospitality industry clients, including hotels, restaurants, and liquor establishments. He also practices in the defense of nursing homes, auto negligence, condominiums and homeowners’ associations, construction defects, service station/convenience store defense, aquatic accidents/commercial and residential drownings, toxic torts, as well as in insurance coverage issues.

He earned a Business degree from Florida State University, with high honors, in 1984, then graduated from University of Florida Law School in 1987. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Gold Key, and Mortar Board, among other Honor Societies. He also served as president of his college fraternity, and as president of the Campus-Wide Interfraternity Judicial Council.

Mr. Esco is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a current or past member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Dade County Defense Bar, and the Coral Gables Bar Association. He was recently selected by his local peers for membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates and to the International Society Of Barristers.

Mr. Esco has held Board and Committee positions in local charity and church organizations. He actively participates in seminars and speaking engagements for clients and insurance carriers.

Mr. Esco has tried more than one hundred jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts in Florida, as well as defended multiple arbitration proceedings, and has served as an expert witness in court proceedings and magistrate hearings.

Mr. Esco has also briefed and argued multiple appellate cases.
