Biography

Bill Stemberger is considered one of Georgia’s most accomplished personal injury and wrongful death attorneys. From his office in the Coweta County seat of Newnan, Bill has represented more than 800 injury victims and families, secured millions of dollars in compensation, and given back to the community through volunteer work and charitable giving. Yet what Bill is known for most is his honest, straightforward approach with clients — along with an unwavering willingness to take opposing parties to trial when necessary to achieve justice. Bill’s decades of results have earned him some of the legal profession’s top honors. He holds a perfect 10/10 rating from Avvo, has been a Georgia Super Lawyers Honoree (Top 5%) every year since 2014, and holds an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell — its highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards. Georgia Trend Magazine routinely names Bill one of its Legal Elite attorneys in Personal Injury Law, an honor reserved for fewer than 25 attorneys statewide and based solely on the votes of fellow Georgia Bar members. Bill is, in fact, the only attorney from Coweta County to appear in the latest edition of GT Legal Elite.

Bill’s reputation as a skilled courtroom lawyer is well established across the state. He has taken more than 80 cases to trial, while also handling appeals before the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Georgia Court of Appeals, including one in which he litigated against the Georgia Department of Transportation on behalf of a client injured due to negligent road signing and permitting. And unlike many personal injury attorneys who only focus on easy-to-settle car wreck cases, Bill is known for representing clients injured in slip and falls, construction accidents, animal attacks, and defective products. Earlier in his career, Bill also served as the Coweta County State Court Solicitor, prosecuting cases on the people’s behalf and routinely taking them to trial when necessary to obtain justice.

A recognized leader in both the Coweta County legal and business communities, Bill is a longtime fixture of the Newnan-Coweta civic scene and a staunch supporter of local organizations and causes. He served as President and Treasurer of the Newnan-Coweta Bar Association in the late 1990’s and is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, the American Association for Justice, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Bill also routinely holds leadership roles outside the legal profession, including former Secretary of the Newnan Country Club and former member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross’s Newnan Branch.

Bill earned his Juris Doctor from John Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University and his Bachelor of Arts from Cleveland State University. In college, Bill competed on CSU’s track and cross-country teams.
