Billie Jo Taylor

Billie Jo “BJ” Taylor is a trial attorney at Harrell & Harrell, P.A., based in Jacksonville, Florida, with nearly three decades of experience in the legal field. Her practice focuses on personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, trucking liability, wrongful death, medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, and complex tort claims.

Ms. Taylor’s legal career began as a legal secretary then becoming a certified paralegal prior to attending law school. She supported attorneys in diverse areas of law across California, Pennsylvania, and Florida, providing her with a strong foundation for her current litigation practice.

She is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by The Florida Bar, an honor that reflects her extensive courtroom experience, advanced legal knowledge, and adherence to the highest standards of professional conduct. Board certification is the Florida Bar’s highest level of recognition for attorneys practicing in a specific area of law.

In 2024, Ms. Taylor was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a prestigious national organization comprised of experienced plaintiff and defense trial lawyers whose mission is to preserve and promote the American civil justice system.

In recognition of her professional excellence, Ms. Taylor was named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in the area of Personal Injury Defense: General from 2013 through 2017. She has also been honored with the Volunteer Award by the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Division of the Jacksonville Bar Association.

Outside the courtroom, BJ is an avid runner who regularly participates in various runs across the country from marathons and ultra-marathons, including events like the Big Foot 20 miler around Mt. St. Helens in Washington State, and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., which she has ran several times in honor of her late father. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Freed to Run Ultra-Marathon benefiting Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) and leads Harrell & Harrell’s team in several local charity runs each year. BJ’s passion for running is deeply rooted in her commitment to giving back, using each race as an opportunity to support meaningful charitable causes. BJ also enjoys hiking, traveling the world with her husband, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
