Blake Abbott is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Wilmington office and a member of the Medical Malpractice practice group. He is an experienced civil trial litigator who focuses his practice on defending physicians, healthcare providers, and medical practices in complex, high-exposure matters.Blake has represented physicians and medical groups in medical malpractice actions, giving him a practical understanding of the legal, professional, and personal challenges healthcare providers face in litigation. He approaches each case strategically and from multiple perspectives, always with a focus on efficient resolution and the best possible result for his clients. When matters proceed to trial, he is a zealous and detail-oriented advocate.Blake began his legal career in nationwide class action and mass tort litigation, where he handled high-stakes, multi-million dollar claims across the country. Early in his practice, he distinguished himself as a skilled oral advocate and has presented matters at both the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts across the country, achieving successful outcomes for his clients in complex and high-risk litigation.Blake earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Illinois State University and was a collegiate baseball player. He received his J.D. from the Charleston School of Law on the Presidential Honors Scholarship, the school’s highest merit award. He graduated cum laude in an accelerated time frame of 2 years and served on the Moot Court Board as Sergeant at Arms. During this time in law school, he served as an intern in the Foundation for Research and Development at the Medical University of South Carolina.Outside of the office, Blake enjoys spending time on the water, golfing, and following a wide range of sports.
