Brenda Lopez is a highly
accomplished attorney specializing in family law and holds the
designation of Certified Family Law Specialist. With extensive
experience representing clients in family law matters, she has
successfully litigated numerous complex cases involving both economic
and non-economic issues.
Ms.
Lopez is actively involved in the legal community, holding leadership
positions and serving on the boards of several prestigious
organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the
San Diego County Bar and has previously held positions as Chair,
Vice-Chair, and Member at Large of the Family Law Section.
Additionally, she is a board member of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers
Association Scholarship Fund. She previously served as Co-Chair of
the Community Services Committee and Gender Equity Committee of
Lawyers Club of San Diego. Ms. Lopez also held the role of Vice
President for the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association during the
2020-2021 term.
Being
bilingual in English and Spanish, Ms. Lopez brings valuable language
skills to her practice, allowing her to effectively serve a diverse
range of clients. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in
Chicana/o Studies from San Diego State University. While studying at
Thomas Jefferson School of Law, she became a Certified Legal Intern,
which enabled her to gain practical litigation experience by
appearing in court proceedings alongside her studies. Ms. Lopez's
educational background, combined with her strong work ethic, cultural
awareness, and legal knowledge, have contributed to her success in
achieving favorable outcomes for her clients.
Throughout
her legal career, Ms. Lopez has demonstrated her dedication to the
field by engaging in various roles and activities. She worked as a
legal assistant for civil litigation and Certified Family Law
Specialist attorneys in San Diego while attending law school
part-time. After being admitted to the California State Bar in 2012,
she opened her own law practice, where she provided pro bono
assistance for the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program's domestic
violence clinic. Subsequently, Ms. Lopez worked for one of the
largest family law firms in San Diego before reopening her solo
practice. She eventually became a partner at PLBK, showcasing her
expertise and commitment to serving clients in family law matters.
Beyond
her legal work, Ms. Lopez actively volunteers her time to make a
positive impact on the community. She participates in various
outreach programs, such as inspiring elementary school children in
less advantaged communities, mentoring foster youth, and assisting at
a local senior center. These efforts highlight her dedication to
serving others and contributing to the betterment of society beyond
the courtroom.
