Biography

Brent Hartman focuses his practice in the areas of warranty and casualty litigation. He represents automotive manufacturers in all phases of litigation involving Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and Florida Lemon Law including arbitration before the Florida New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board and in lawsuits throughout the state. Brent also represents clients in casualty litigation defending companies against premises liability and auto accident claims.

Brent participated in the 2012 RumbergerKirk Summer Associate Program.

Prior to starting his legal career, Brent spent six years working for college basketball teams. He was a student manager for four years at the University of Maryland, including the 2004 ACC Champions. He then worked as a graduate assistant basketball coach for two years at Tulane University.

Notable Cases: Huntley v. Jose (October 2025): Admitted liability case in which Plaintiff asked the jury for $3.4 million. The jury awarded a net verdict of $55,421, after which RumbergerKirk filed motions for attorneys' fees, setoffs and remittitur.; Ary v. Gomez Orantes and Bonus Transportation Inc. (February 2025): The plaintiff claimed neck and back injuries from a rear-end collision that occurred on August 17, 2022. Plaintiff's counsel asked the jury to award just under $1 million in damages. The trial team led by partner Joe Metzger overcame Florida law's presumption of negligence against a rear-end driver and convinced the Polk County jury there was no negligence on the part of the defendant driver.;:
