Brent Hazzard

Brent graduated the University of Mississippi with an accounting degree in 1996, and a law degree in 1999. Brent started off his legal career in Tupelo, Mississippi, representing individuals for employment discrimination and violations of their civil rights.

In 2004, at only thirty-two years old, the Mississippi Attorney General of Mississippi hired Brent as a Special Assistant Attorney General to prosecute the civil actions against Microsoft and an illegal vitamin cartel. The Mississippi Attorney General announced a $100 million settlement between it and Microsoft, the largest settlement of any State suit brought against Microsoft. Brent and Richard Schwartz were the lead mediators that negotiated the State’s settlement against the illegal vitamin cartel for approximately $27 million, one of the largest in the nation.

In 2008, Brent was hired as an Assistant Hinds County Prosecutor that prosecuted cases in Justice Court, County Court, Youth Court, City Court and the Mississippi Supreme Court.

In 2013, Judge R. David Proctor selected Brent to be on the Litigation Committee of the historical $2.67 billion settlement in In re: Blue Cross Blue Shield.
