Biography

Brittany Ranelli (formerly Wunderlich) defends employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters, including class and PAGA actions, in state and federal courts. She also provides strategic counseling to clients on employee leaves and accommodations, employment policies, and wage and hour compliance. Brittany’s clients span a wide range of industries, including technology, consulting, construction, retail, transportation, manufacturing, health care, and education.Brittany handles all phases of employment litigation, from initial pleadings through mediation, arbitration, and trial. She has experience drafting and arguing motions, including motions to compel arbitration, demurrers, and summary judgment motions, and routinely takes and defends depositions of parties and witnesses. Brittany has negotiated resolutions at mediation for employers facing significant exposure. She has also first-chaired an arbitration proceeding and secured a complete defense verdict. In addition, Brittany has obtained dismissals of class claims through strategic litigation tactics. Brittany’s litigation practice also includes responding to administrative charges and appearing for evidentiary hearings before state and federal agencies, including the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), and U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).In her counseling practice, Brittany provides guidance on all aspects of the employment relationship, including onboarding procedures, employee leaves of absences, payroll and timekeeping practices, and termination of the employment relationship. Brittany conducts wage and hour audit and investigates allegations of inappropriate workplace conduct and employee complaints. Experience: Representative Matters: First-chaired an arbitration hearing and obtained a complete defense award for a global technology and consulting firm.; Prevailed on compelling claims to arbitration despite plaintiff's arguments disclaiming their individual PAGA claim.; Stayed a duplicative wage and hour class action notwithstanding plaintiff's attempt to consolidate the class actions.; Prevailed on a motion to compel the plaintiff's individual PAGA claim to arbitration.; Obtained a voluntary dismissal of class claims after successfully conducting a Pick-Up Stix campaign for a construction company.; Mediated a wage-and-hour PAGA and putative class action lawsuit for less than 6 percent of the plaintiff's $14 million demand.; Obtained an order compelling the plaintiff's claims to arbitration, notwithstanding the plaintiff's arguments that the arbitration agreement did not contain required terms and was entered into under duress.; Procured a settlement for a construction company in a high-risk harassment and gender discrimination case.; Obtained a complete dismissal with prejudice in a harassment and discrimination action after the plaintiff violated the court's discovery order.; Obtained a voluntary dismissal in a PAGA action for a health care system after demonstrating that the plaintiff was not an aggrieved employee.; Mediated a wage and hour class action for a large manufacturing company that settled for less than five percent of the potential exposure.; The above representations were handled by Ms. Ranelli prior to her joining Greenberg Traurig, LLP.; Internships: In-House Legal Extern, Nortek Security & Control LLC, 2018; Judicial Extern, Hon.
