Biography

Caitlin Coady handles various forms of dispute resolution, including commercial litigation in the DIFC Courts, ADGM Courts, and the onshore UAE Courts, and international arbitration proceedings (including under the DIAC and ICC Rules).

She has a broad practice covering general commercial disputes, with particular experience of civil fraud claims and matters involving the real estate, hospitality, and professional services (particularly accountancy and audit) sectors. She has also advised clients in relation to internal investigations and regulatory disputes.

Caitlin has spent much of her life in the Middle East and returned to the UAE in 2020. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, she trained and worked at a major international law firm in Dubai.

• Acted for a large UAE real estate developer in relation to fraud proceedings in the ADGM Courts.°

• Acted for an audit firm in relation to professional negligence claims and other litigation in the UAE and other jurisdictions arising from the collapse of a significant corporate group.°

• Defending a pharmaceuticals company in DIAC arbitration proceedings arising from the termination of a distribution agreement.°

• Advised a financial services firm in the UAE in relation to a potential mis-selling claim.°

• Acted for several reinsurers in DIFC Court proceedings relating to the application of U.S. sanctions.°

• Advised property management companies and commercial tenants in the DIFC in relation to issues arising from lease agreements.°

• Represented a Dubai based provider of third-party administration services in DIFC Court proceedings against a health care insurance provider for breach of an agreement governed by UAE law.°

• Acted for a luxury car manufacturer in DIFC-LCIA arbitration proceedings, relating to the termination of an import agreement.°

• Acted for a fuel, food, and logistics service provider in DIAC arbitration proceedings brought by a former subcontractor in relation to services provided to international armed forces in Afghanistan.°

• Defended a multinational European engineering and technology solution company in DIFC-LCIA arbitration proceedings relating to a shareholder dispute arising from the acquisition of the company.°

• Advised a quasi-governmental entity in relation to the conduct of an internal investigation, relating to a project in Eastern Africa.°

• Advised on and defended against information requests and investigations by regulators, including the UAE Ministry of Economy, DFSA, and FSRA.°
