Catherine D. Kemp

Katie Kemp is an associate with the Firm’s Real Estate practice group where she represents clients in various real estate and project development matters, including conveyancing, financing, leasing, and construction. Her project development practice involves counseling public and private clients on complex projects from concept and site control to groundbreaking. Katie has represented developers across New York State in connection with obtaining economic incentives from industrial development agencies.

Katie also represents developers and municipal housing authorities with respect to the development of low-income housing, including multiple LIHTC and RAD conversion transactions.

Katie was previously a summer associate and law clerk with the Firm. Prior to joining the Firm, Katie served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Lawrence E. Kahn, United States District Judge for the Northern District of New York.

Katie regularly performs pro bono work, including participation in the Legal Project’s small business clinic.

Representative Accomplishments

• Obtained property tax, sales tax and mortgage recording tax exemptions from numerous industrial development agencies. Projects include manufacturing facilities, utility and community scale solar projects, battery energy storage projects, electric transmission lines, affordable housing, and hotels.

• Represented multiple not-for-profit and public housing authority developers in the financing and development of affordable multi-family residential and mixed-use properties utilizing tax credit equity.

• Counseled renewable energy developers and financers in connection with the development of utility scale renewable energy facilities.

• Represented clients in connection with the acquisition and development of hotels.

• Represented lessors and lessees in connection with turnkey construction and lease of manufacturing and office space.
