Biography

Catherine Austin is a native of and grew up in Cameron, South Carolina, a service area of the firm. She has practiced with Horger, Barnwell & Reid, LLP for over five years. She graduated from Newberry College summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She graduated cum laude from the Charleston School of Law. While at the Charleston School of Law, Catherine studied at the Academy in International Commercial Arbitration in Linz, Austria.

During her career, Catherine has had experience in many different fields of practice including real estate and probate. Currently her primary practice focus is residential real estate closings. She also drafts simple Wills, Healthcare Powers of Attorney and Powers of Attorney.

Catherine has been active in her community and church. She has served as an officer of the Orangeburg County Bar Association. She is a member of the Junior Service League of Orangeburg where she has served as Treasurer. She has served on the South Carolina ELCA Synold Council and the executive council and has served as Constitutional Committee member for this organization. She also assists with the children’s music program at her church. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.
