Charlie D. Morrison

Charlie Morrison works in the firm’s Plaintiff’s group. Prior to joining Gentry Locke, he worked as a judicial clerk at the 23rd Judicial Circuit of Virginia. Charlie graduated with his B.A. and B.S. from the Radford University and earned his J.D. from Regent University School of Law. During his time at Regent School of Law, he was honored with the “book award,” given to the student with the highest grade in the course, in 13 of his classes. At the conclusion of his law school career, he was awarded with both the Outstanding JD Graduate Award, awarded based on a holistic set of criteria, and the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award, awarded to the valedictorian of the class.

•Are you happy to be working in the Roanoke Valley?

Definitely! I'm from Pulaski County originally, and I attended Radford University for my undergraduate degree. That's where I met my wife, who is from Martinsville, and we ended up in Roanoke because we love the area. We also have two children, so living nearby grandparents is also extremely helpful!

•You worked as a teaching assistant while studying law at Regent University. Tell us about that!

I was a teaching assistant in the academic success program, which helps students who could benefit from an extended school orientation. I actually participated in the program myself as an incoming law student, and I had a really great experience. My appreciation for the program inspired me to become a mentor for others. It was extremely rewarding, especially since I'm still in contact with some of my mentees!

•What's something people may be surprised to learn about you?

One of my hobbies is repairing antique fountain pens. I enjoy browsing antique stores for pens that are in rough but restorable condition. I then disassemble them, replace broken parts, and restore the pen back to functioning condition. After it is functional, I will clean and polish the pen to reveal its former beauty. There is something special about pulling a piece of history out of my jacket pocket to jot notes in a meeting.
